I was surprised how the situation was dealt with after the Mortar Tsukumogami attacked Suzuri and Kagami, I thought they were going to give their signatures because he protected them by defeating her but instead because he showed restraint is what got their signatures.

I wonder what Suzuri inhabited, he also mentioned having a special composition but it is hard to tell.

you might be able to guess from their names, ex: I feel like Nagi might be from a "Kusanagi no Tsurugi", and Kagami is some sort of special mirror(the literal definition of Kagami).

...actually, if you search up Suzuri it makes it more obvious based on what we see in the episode. He is most likely from ink/an inkstone.

I honestly think that it was something else: I know from my own experience that you can freeze up when you're about to hurt someone, and that person suddenly changes from rage to fear for his life. It's hard to describe, but it's increadibly strong.

I can see why the Grandpa told him if he didn't cut it he was out. He's supposed to inherit the leadership position at some point in the future but he still hasn't even grasped the basic concept of the macro vs the micro:
The Tsukumogami as a group are an issue that have to be dealt with not only for any humans involved but for the sake of the Tsukumogami themselves. However this doesn't change the fact that each one of them are different and thus, different approaches are necessary. If he can't wrap his head around this, he's not going to be dealing with them but instead, simply making war against them which won't turn out well for anyone.

I like it. Maybe the character development is a bit fast but tbh his conviction was more of a hatred towards the guy who killed his siblings rather than all tsukumogami, his hatred for him extending to them instead, thus making it understandable why he, when meeting tsukumogami who look human, act human and talk human, would start warming up to them. Not to mention that he is uptight about his rules and if his rule is that he needs to get along with them then that means that he will do it no matter what.
